Imaginary Friend Bloghop
Today I am pleased to be part of the Imaginary Friend Bloghop hosted by Annalisa Crawford and Kyra Lennon to celebrate the first anniversary of Annalisa's book Cat & The Dreamer. Congratulations, Annalisa. I read the story recently and thought it very thought provoking so if you haven't read it yet I recommend you think about adding it to your TBR list.
When I saw this hop about imaginary friends I had to sign up. I didn't have just one imaginary friend I had several - a whole family in fact! I never knew for sure but I don't think my family knew about them. I didn't have to do things like set a place for them at the dinner table so there was no reason for anyone to know. Of course, they may have heard me chattering to them and just never mentioned it! I think I actually preferred keeping them to myself, going off for a chat or telling my 'other family' about some problem or other. It certainly helped me work through things in my life. I don't see imaginary friends as weird at all.
As well as imaginary family members I also had a stable full of world class show jumping horses! I could really 'see' them. A beautiful chestnut mare, a magnificent black stallion and a gentle grey. Yes I did always want a real horse but that wasn't an option so I guess I made my own.
When I look back at it now maybe my active imagination is why I find myself writing so much fantasy. In make believe people and animals can do and say whatever you want.
Wow, it was good to get all that off my chest! I look forward to hearing about all your imaginary friends. Hope it's not just me!
Please note this is a scheduled post and due to current personal circumstances I may not be able to respond as quickly as usual, but I thank you all for visiting and I look forward to catching up with your stories as soon as I am able x

Ha, it's funny that you mentioned imaginary horses! I actually had an imaginary horse when I was younger and I completely forgot about it until now!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being part of the bloghop! :D
I'm glad it helped you remember, Kyra. It's a great idea for a hop!
DeleteIf you're going to imagine, you might as do it right :) Sounds like you had an exciting childhood.
ReplyDeleteYes, no half measures!
DeleteYour the second person to write about horses! A second family sounds like a great idea, especially when your real family are driving you nuts! Thanks for taking part :-)
ReplyDeleteHorses certainly seem popular!
DeleteIt's not surprising that so many writers had imaginary friends when they were young. Now our characters have the same function (although they can be enemies sometimes!)
ReplyDeleteI guess our characters are our imaginery friends. I hadn't thought of it quite like that Nick.
DeleteDid you name them all and remembered all the names? I had a little trouble with remembering names of so many friends. :)
ReplyDeleteYes they had names, it's all a little fuzzy around the edges now but I could tell you the names of the horses to this day!
Deletewow, a true storybook fantasy! you should write a book about it! i see an mg series!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes Tara, maybe I should think about writing a book!
DeleteI had seven older brothers and sisters...and a whole bunch of books I couldn't put down. There's no way I could pinpoint one imaginary friend with all those characters in my life! However, it's a lot of fun to read all these stories in this blog hop. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a busy childhood filled with loads of real friends.
DeleteHey Suzanne- I don't doubt you had a whole family of IFs. Your imagination is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you (personally) you are in my thoughts.
Thank you Jaybird your kind thoughts are much appreciated.
Deletethe imagination can be a grand thing, just ask Pat who pretends to be a cat haha
ReplyDeleteImagination is wonderful. Where would us writers be without it!
DeleteYou're the second one who had a whole stable of horses.
ReplyDeleteHorses do seem a popular choice!
DeleteI had a whole stable, too. :D Too bad I didn't keep my elaborate drawings of it.
ReplyDeleteHorses seem to be a recurring theme for many.
DeleteI had little plastic horses; I named them all and worked out long bloodline lists of their sires and dams. I just liked making up names even then! Great post. :-)
ReplyDeleteI made stables out of shoe boxes and wrote the names of the horses on the outside.
DeleteMy imaginary friend was a psychiatrist. Your family makes me feel a bit better, maybe the function of imaginary friends is so we can work through problems that we don't feel comfortable sharing with others.
ReplyDeleteA psychiatrist, wow. I guess imaginary friends do act in that sort of way.
DeleteI'm wondering why people dump their imaginary friends. I've kept mine.
ReplyDeleteYeah I find I talk to the cat now.
DeleteHaha! Loving this. I'm with you, Suzanne... I had an imaginary unicorn that I totally believed was real...
ReplyDeleteUnicorns are real Morgan!
DeleteYou just have to know where to look ...
DeleteSnap! I didn't have any human imaginary friends but I went everywhere on my beautiful grey horse with my faithful dog beside me. (Don't tell anyone but they're looking over my shoulder right now)
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one, Linda. Horses make wonderful friends.
DeleteWas there an imaginary Stable Boy as well?? :)
ReplyDeleteHaha not that I can recall!
DeleteIt has been such fun to meet so many new imaginary friends! Thanks for sharing yours.
