Celebrate the small things

I haven't been around my blog quite as much as usual so this post is a round up of the last couple of weeks. It's always good to look on the positive side so here are my recent celebrations.

Thanks as ever to our host Viklit at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author

  • My toaster blew up! Not generally reason to celebrate I know but I fuelled my purple passion by replacing it with a shiny new purple one (I also bought the matching kettle - but ssh I think I got away with it!). Sorry family you know what I'm like *smiles sweetly.*
  • I submitted two short stories to competitions.
  • I have said 'no' to chocolate for over three weeks now.
  • Hubby and I managed an evening out together on our own. It was great to sit down over a meal and have a proper chat. We always say we should try and do it more often.
  • We've got a friend's birthday party to go to on Saturday which should be fun.
Have a lovely weekend.
See you all next week for IWSG and an April birthstone post

Celebrate the small things

What a week of ups and downs (read mainly downs). I have to admit I was really struggling to pick out things to celebrate and I seriously thought of missing a post this week. Then I gave myself a shake and made myself focus on positives, because however small they may be, they are worth hanging onto. So this week I'd like to celebrate;

* the sunshine for hanging around
* the power of a hug
* scented candles
* a good book to unwind with

Thanks to Viklit

Wishing you a peaceful and happy weekend.

Celebrate the small things

Thanks toViklit

Welcome to Friday and time once again to celebrate the small things. Check out this simple weekly blog hop that gives us the chance to reflect on the past week and focus on some of the positives. Click the link above to find out more and sign up.

This week I am celebrating:

* Pancakes - Shrove Tuesday this week and lots of yummy pancakes. Why we don't eat them more often I don't know! My favourite topping is the traditional lemon and sugar. I am now giving up chocolate until Easter.

* A trip out all in the name of research - Last Sunday the family accompanied me on a visit to Tintagel. About 40 miles from where we live. For those of you who don't know Tintagel Castle is reputed to be the birth place of King Arthur. Little remains of the castle but it is a beautiful area and one steeped in history with a good dose of myth and legend thrown in. One of my projects at the moment involves the area and I wanted to soak up the atmosphere of the place to help me. It was very blustery up on the cliffs but well worth the trip. A few pics below for anyone interested.

Have a great weekend everyone.

A little inspiration - IWSG posting

Today I have the words of another to share with you. Words I read recently and which stuck in my mind for a long time afterwards. Some of you will no doubt be familiar with them, but for others they may be new. But either way I hope you will take a moment to read them, think about and rejoice in their truth. Writing is often a lonely and thankless task. We spend hour upon hour bringing the characters and worlds that reside in our heads to life, pouring our heart and souls into every sentence, paragraph and page until we emerge victorious with our completed works. To get to this stage we should be justly proud. But perhaps the greatest and hardest task is what follows, the courage to reach out and share those words with others.

“Write every day,
line by line, page by page, hour by hour.
Do this despite fear.
For above all else,
beyond imagination and skill, what the world asks of you is courage, courage to risk rejection, ridicule and failure.
As you follow the quest for stories told with meaning and beauty, study thoughtfully but write boldly.

Then, like the hero of the fable, your dance will dazzle the world.”

Sidelined by Kyra Lennon - Cover reveal

Today I am pleased to be part of the cover reveal for the lovely, Kyra Lennon's new book.

Title: Sidelined (Game On Book 3)
Author: Kyra Lennon
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 31st 2014
Blurb:
At the age of twenty-one, Bree Collinson has more than she ever dreamed of. A handsome husband, a fancy house, and more shoes than Carrie Bradshaw and Imelda Marcos combined. But having everything handed to her isn’t the way Bree wants to live the rest of her life. When an idea to better herself pops into her head, she doesn’t expect her husband to question her, and keep her tied by her apron strings to the kitchen.
Isolated and unsure who to turn to, Bree finds herself falling back into a dangerous friendship, and developing feelings for the only person who really listens to her. Torn between her loyalty to her husband and her attraction to a man who has the perfect family she always wanted, she has some tough choices to make.
While Bree tries to figure out what she wants, a tragedy rocks the Westberg Warriors, triggering some dark memories, and pushing her to take a look at what’s really important.
Sidelined is the third book in Kyra Lennon’s Game On series. Game On (Book 1) and Blindsided (Book 2) are available on Amazon and Smashwords.

About the Author:
Kyra is a self-confessed book-a-holic, and has been since she first learned to read. When she's not reading, you'll usually find her hanging out in coffee shops with her trusty laptop and/or her friends, or girling it up at the nearest shopping mall. And occasionally hanging out with rock stars, because that’s how she rolls!

Kyra grew up on the South Coast of England and refuses to move away from the seaside which provides massive inspiration for her novels. Her debut novel, Game On (New Adult Contemporary Romance), was released in July 2012, and she scored her first Amazon Top 20 listing with her New Adult novella, If I Let You Go in November.
