This week I am celebrating the first week back at work after the holidays! (Well make that surviving the first week back!). It's amazing how all the kids grow over the summer.
We brought a new table for the kitchen. It's a glass top one and quite different to my usual style but fancied a change. Sadly it is still in the box at the moment because husband is away working for a few days and I can't get it out till he gets home later!
Busy weekend ahead. Two birthday parties for friends, one tonight and one tomorrow. Also got to fit in a university open day visit tomorrow a 100 odd miles away!
Have a great weekend everyone.
Glad you survived the first week!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on surviving your first week back! Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you did a great job your first week back! Hope you survive your weekend, it sounds very busy!
ReplyDeleteAlex - Me too!
ReplyDeleteLaura - You too, Laura :)
Dani - I hope it's fun too!
Yay for surviving the first week back. Have fun this busy weekend! If I can, I'll take a nap in your honor :D
ReplyDeleteThat would be lovely, lol!
DeleteYay for birthday parties! Eat lots of cake and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'll do my best!
DeleteThe new table sounds exciting. Maybe you should post pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteMight just do that if I can ever get it out the box! Why can't stuff get delivered ready to go??
DeleteWow - seriously tiring weekend, but there will no doubt be smiles before the yawns. Have fun.

Haha yes hopefully there will be! Hope you have a fun weekend.
DeleteSounds like a fun weekend. Enjoy the parties! :)
ReplyDeleteSurvival is all we can do with crummy work
ReplyDeleteTwo birthday parties sounds like loads of fun in store for you and lots of cake.
ReplyDeleteYeah probably diet starts again next week!
DeleteHave a great weekend, Suzanne. I have a sewing machine received at Christmas and still in the box, so understand about the table!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne .. well the University could have been Durham - somewhat further away! Good luck with that visit .. should be very interesting ...
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've a lot on - the new kitchen table sounds lovely - are you upping your window cleaning bills?!
Enjoy the birthday parties and the weekend .. cheers Hilary
Hubby just put table up this morning. So far so good!
DeleteAdmirable restraint! I'd have dragged that table out of its box by now. I'd also have fixed the legs on upside down, put my back out and cracked the glass top by using the wrong kind of screwdriver on it. So - yeah - your way's probably best xx
ReplyDeleteI tried, well I opened the box and peered in! The glass part was so heavy though I knew I'd be asking for trouble! Just put it up and it's looking good (well I think so, everyone else says they need time to get used to it because it's different!) Some folks.
DeleteWelcome back! Best of luck with returning to your routine. :-)
ReplyDeletePleased your first week back has gone well.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Lots of fantastic celebrations for you, Suzanne. I'm sure your table will be spectacular when it's all set up. Good job catching up on things at work and have fun at the parties. It should be a very special weekend for you.
ReplyDeleteI love my glass top table, hope you get a chance to get yours set up soon. Sounds like a good week.

Seems like a good week. Glad you survived getting back after a hiatus. Have a fantastic weekend and a great week ahead. :)
ReplyDeleteHope the uni visit is a success. When I was trawling around, it got to the point where I couldn't remember which place was which.
ReplyDeleteNew table-- fun! Isn't it great how a new piece of furniture or a coat of paint can just brighten up a place? Enjoy! And enjoy your bday celebrations. :)
ReplyDeleteIt does, except now I'm looking at the wall and thinking what if I paint that a nice bright colour. Always a job!
DeleteWe have a lovely glass top coffee table that I inherited from my mum. I love/hate it. Every fingerprint, slop, dust-bunny shows up. Sticky fingers are the worse. Maybe it's because we're such slobs. Happy you survived the first week, Suzanne.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the down sides, ask me again in a couple of weeks if I still like it!
DeleteDon't want to tackle the table by yourself? :) I've done things like that, and it's better to wait for the hubby! May this year go great for you and the students, and enjoy the parties. Writer’s Mark
ReplyDeleteIt was the weight of it that put me off more than anything. I had visions of smashing glass all over the kitchen floor!
DeleteHi everyone, thanks for commenting. I had a succesful weekend but alas feel that I'm getting too old for two parties in one weekend! The uni trip was interesting and informative. We have another one planned next weekend so it will be good to be able to compare.

Hi Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteSorry about my late arrival to the party. I must be crazy for it be four in the morning. Oh well, who needs sleep.
Glad that your weekend was successful. You know you still want to party!
And then you can sort out the table with your hubby.
Take care, Suzanne.
Gary
I'm about to start writing after a near week break and it is going to feel heavenly. :)
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a good weekend. Ooh the table sounds nice, I wouldn't be risking getting it out myself either!
ReplyDeleteFun projects and things going on here, Suzanne! I love hearing your updates. Hope everything else is well!!! <3
ReplyDeleteWhew! Some weekends are like that. I got to try a glass table for a while, and decided I'd stick to the wood--because I have little ones with grimy little fingers. Yeah, keeping windows and walls clean is hard enough.
ReplyDeleteHope you had an awesome weekend!
I know what you mean with the glass table - hoping I might be safe now my kids are *adults*
DeleteGlass tables are pretty. I've not had one for my dining room but I do have a couple of nice oak pieces with smokey glass in the living room. It's keeping them clean that gets to be a pain. :-) Sis has always loved glass dining room tables.
ReplyDeleteHope the university visit went well and the parties were fun!

Parties were fun but I am paying the price of two late nights on the run!
DeleteI hope your week and the weekend were enjoyable.
ReplyDeletelove to see that table :)
ReplyDeleteIt's looking good!
DeleteSo are you a teacher? Or some other educational job? I was a teacher for 8 years...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm brave enough for a glass table. I'm a terrible housekeeper...
Tina @ Life is Good
Hi Tina, I'm a teaching assistant supporting literacy and numeracy mainly. I wouldn't have had a glass table when my kids were small but as they are all grown up I'm hoping I should be safe! I like the way it looks sparkly when the light shines on it!
DeleteI love that 'settling back into routine' feeling of September. Hope the uni visit was worthwhile!
ReplyDeleteThat first bit back can be tough. The table sounds awesome I love glass top.
