Celebrations post

I've not been around the blogosphere quite as much as usual this last week. I haven't felt terribly creative so decided to put my writing aside for a few days and think about other things! However, I have still been busy. We celebrated daughter's 18th with a family meal out and I made a birthday cake in the shape of a sheep (she is mad on sheep!) I also looked at some of our recent holiday photos, which brought back some happy memories. I have included a handful at the end of this post. As the weather turns more autumnal and the nights begin to draw in thinking about the sunshine is uplifting.

This weekend we are getting together with a bunch of friends and going out for an Indian meal. It is another part of the 18th celebrations!

Finally, I would just like to thank you for all the lovely, supportive comments on last weeks post. It was a sad time for us and reading your messages cheered me and the rest of the family. You are all super amazing and I celebrate the fact I am part of this supportive community.

Whatever you're up to this weekend hope you have fun.

Sorry I missed your post last week. Losing a pet is awful. :(

  7. Happy birthday to your daughter. I'm impressed you made a sheep cake. I usually just go out and buy... I'm so bad at all this housewife stuff!

    1. Thanks Annalisa. I've made some interesting ones over the years although some have worked out better than others. They never let me forget the year I put yoghurt in the icing! It was horrible!

  8. Happy 18th to your daughter. Mine turns 18 in December and I'm not sure I'm ready for my baby to be that old. Sigh-- then college and she'll LEEEEEEEEEAVE me. Glad you are celebrating in style.

I am currently at the seaside trying to hang on to the tail end of the summer...but it's c-c-cold!
I still remember your description of 'swimming in warm seas' and it's making me determined to go a bit further afield next year...

  17. My husband is the cake-maker in our house. When my boys were little he made birthday cakes in the shape of rockets and castle, and, most memorable Sonic the Hedgehog. I hope your weekend is going well.

  19. Those tombs in the cliffs. I'm sure I've been there. It's either Turkey or Tunisia, I think! Looks like you had a great time and Happy Birthday to your daughter. We've had an Indian summer up our way over the weekend, kids are off school til Tuesday, so it's been very relaxed!

  20. Hi Annalisa - so pleased Nick enlightened me - just good to get away to a warm sea! Happy days and those 18 years passing by - congratulations to the three of you! The celebrations sound good to me ..

Sheep cake .. well that's unusual .. but wonderful she's interested in farming and nature - typical west country lass ...

Cheers and happy days ahead even if they're closing in - Hilary
