Welcome to Friday and time once again to celebrate the small things. Check out this simple weekly blog hop that gives us the chance to reflect on the past week and focus on some of the positives. Click the link above to find out more and sign up.
This week I am celebrating:
* Pancakes - Shrove Tuesday this week and lots of yummy pancakes. Why we don't eat them more often I don't know! My favourite topping is the traditional lemon and sugar. I am now giving up chocolate until Easter.
* A trip out all in the name of research - Last Sunday the family accompanied me on a visit to Tintagel. About 40 miles from where we live. For those of you who don't know Tintagel Castle is reputed to be the birth place of King Arthur. Little remains of the castle but it is a beautiful area and one steeped in history with a good dose of myth and legend thrown in. One of my projects at the moment involves the area and I wanted to soak up the atmosphere of the place to help me. It was very blustery up on the cliffs but well worth the trip. A few pics below for anyone interested.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Wonderful memories these photo's of when my late husband and I went there. Thanks for the memories first thing this otherwise dull Friday morning.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week-end.
Yvonne.
Glad you enjoyed seeing them Yvonne.
DeleteAs an Arthurian freak, those photos are amazing. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny I thought about you while I was wandering around.
DeleteI bet you had fun exploring! Great photos.
ReplyDeleteAnd National Pancake Day was this week, wasn't it?
Yes, lots of pancakes around this week!
DeleteWow that looks like a beautiful place. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteIt is wild and beautiful, Julie.
DeleteHow awesome!! I wish I could be there. I love myths and legends. And this is the second post who started with pancakes. Love them too.
ReplyDeleteI think pancakes have featured in several posts this week.
DeleteThat would be a great place to explore, hopefully merlin didn't put a hex on you lol
ReplyDeleteHeehee I think I'm ok!
DeleteWe had pancakes too on Tuesday. Yummo! Since I am giving up sugar-based foods and simple carbs, it was like my last indulgence. :)
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are lovely. What a wonderful way to feel your story.
It will certainly help me when I am writing the story.
DeleteMy sister and I made pancakes on Tuesday, and they were delicious! I also love mine with lemon and sugar :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, those pictures are great. I'd love to visit the ruins someday.
It's gotta be lemon and sugar Laura!
DeleteI love Tintagel and go there regularly with my husband as we live pretty close. I haven't been to the castle in years difficult to make it there with my back, but there are lots of beautiful places around there including st nectans glen, where there is a beautiful waterfall that is connected to Merlin :)
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of steps to climb! I haven't heard about the waterfall, I will look it up, thanks for the suggestion.
DeleteI made gluten free pancakes for my husband and I. What a treat. Should I mention the syrup and whip cream?!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, Suzanne. So much history.
Whip cream and syrup sounds yummy too!
DeleteBeautiful pictures! I love that shot of the door.
ReplyDeleteI liked that one too. Welcome to my blog Dawn.
DeleteSo atmospheric - makes me want to write something spooky!
ReplyDeleteIt would make a setting for a spooky tale!
DeleteWhat great pics! It must have been very interesting to imagine your characters there hundreds of years ago. The rocks and water make it look a bit forbidding. Kinda scary, actually. :O
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hike around those lovely ruins. What a great way to spend the day with your family. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, Suzanne! Glad you have such nice things to celebrate this week!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! What a fun trip you got to take. :D
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to go to King Arthur's castle! That is certainly worth celebrating. Thanks for sharing the photos. They are really cool. I loved driving through the English countryside and seeing all the ruins, but we missed this one, somehow.
ReplyDeleteOh, that image of the open door would be great for a book cover. It suggests so many things. I love it's history, mood, narrative. What a great place to visit.
ReplyDeleteShrove Tuesday - slurp. I'm having lemon and honey on mine. I avoid sugar as much as possible. I don't know why we don't eat more pancakes either. The US eat them for breakfast, although they're not the same as the ones Brits have. Ours are much thinner and I have no idea if they're even made of the same ingredients? I digress :)
Have a great week, Suzanne!

So jealous that you live so close to views like that! Good on you for soaking them up in the name of your imagination!!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, thank you for sharing. The doorway is a food for imagination...
ReplyDeleteGreetings human, Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteMy human, Gary, has always wanted to visit Tintagel. To think it's so close to where you live is pawesome. If you see Merlin, please say hello. The photos are amazing.
I think Gary is ready for "puncakes."
Hope you had a wonderful weekend during this fine weather.
Pawsitive wishes,
Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! :)
That may be the best research trip ever. EVER.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Tintagel. I really should - I try to get the most out of my National Trust membership as possible - but time is always against us. I hope you got what you needed.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Tintagel castle is definitely worth the 40 minutes Suzanne!
