Christmas in January and other things!

Hope you have all had a nice weekend. I celebrated Christmas again yesterday! We started the tradition a few years ago with a group of good friends. For most of us Christmas in December is spent with family so we came up with the idea of celebrating again in January together. It is fun! So yesterday saw me cooking turkey and all the trimmings again!

Today has been beautiful. Clear blue skies, the nicest day we have had since.... well it's been so long I can't actually remember! So I pulled on my wellies  (it is still very wet and muddy underfoot) and headed out for a lovely long walk. It means that I haven't done any work on my manuscript today but the fresh sea air and the sight of the sunshine was a huge boast to the system so the pay off was worth it. I also strolled up to the top of our garden to see if any of the snowdrops were appearing yet. I mentioned them as one of the January birth flowers and a few people commented that they weren't familiar with the flower. I think it is native to Europe. I found a small patch of snowdrops just coming into flower so I took a photo and thought I would add it to this post. Unfortunately, blogger isn't playing ball and for some reason the photo won't upload. Arrgh sorry! I'll add at a later date if I can work it out!

Finally, just a couple of things I have signed up for and wanted to hightlight in case you have missed them.

Annalisa Crawford  and  Kyra Lennon are hosting this fun bloghop about imaginery friends to celebrate the first year anniversary of Annalisa's book Cat & The Dreamer  Congratulations, Annalisa.

Vik over at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author is starting a hop for us to share and celebrate our weekly small achievements. It doesn't have to be writing related, it could be as simple as finally getting round to sorting your sock drawer or, for me, cleaning the cooker!! Head over to her blog for full details.

  1. What a great idea to celebrate Christmas again. I couldn't take advantage of the sun because I was working, but my parents took #2 son to the beach... I'm jealous.

Thanks for the shoutout for my bloghop :-)

  2. Very cool....nothing better than Christmas...except for TWO of them :)

Some friends and I started something similar a few years ago with Thanksgiving. We'd do the family thing, then have another one a few days later where we'd all bring something....Friendsgiving was a lot of fun.

If gifts were exchanged, hope you got something cool :)

Thanks for the heads up on the bloghops....I'll check them out.

  5. I used to work in an off licence. Because Christmas was our busiest time we had the work Christmas party in June.

  6. How fun! It's like Christmas without the stress. Maybe I'll try that! :)

  7. WOW! Christmas is so busy the first time that I can't imagine doing it twice. I'm glad you had a good day.
I have to ask...what are "wellies"? It must be an English term but that is a new one for me

    1. I forget some things don't translate well! Wellies are a British term, short for Wellington Boots. Popularised by the 1st Duke of Wellington. I'm not sure what you may refer to them as maybe rubber boots or gumboots? Very useful in the wet and muddy weather anyway.

  13. Hi Suzanne,

What a pleasant idea to have another Christmas in January with some friends and some good moments.

All these blog hops and blogfests :) Yikes! Seriously, I know they are a great way to interact and much enjoyment to those who get involved.

And this magical weather inspires the beating heart of your writing.

    In peace and goodwill,

    Gary

  16. Hi Suzanne .. touch wood I don't have problems with photos ... I see people are having, then being able to post .. it's so irritating ..

I love snowdrops - they're out round here ... if they don't get rotted out with all the rain etc .. our snow has gone.

What a lovely idea to cheer January up ... friends for a large lunch ... the walk sounded a good refresher!

    Cheers Hilary

    1. Hi Hilary, I love snowdrops too but mine have definitely suffered with the weather. No snow for us yet.

  19. I love your new blog header. Are those the unicorns your daughter drew? Awesome! When I was a Waldorf teacher snowdrops were always mentioned in the stories and songs. I don't think I've ever seen a real one, though. Glad you got outside in the sun. It can be so rough this time of year in northern latitudes.
