Celebrate the small things

I haven't been around my blog quite as much as usual so this post is a round up of the last couple of weeks. It's always good to look on the positive side so here are my recent celebrations.

Thanks as ever to our host Viklit at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author

  • My toaster blew up! Not generally reason to celebrate I know but I fuelled my purple passion by replacing it with a shiny new purple one (I also bought the matching kettle - but ssh I think I got away with it!). Sorry family you know what I'm like *smiles sweetly.*
  • I submitted two short stories to competitions.
  • I have said 'no' to chocolate for over three weeks now.
  • Hubby and I managed an evening out together on our own. It was great to sit down over a meal and have a proper chat. We always say we should try and do it more often.
  • We've got a friend's birthday party to go to on Saturday which should be fun.
Have a lovely weekend.
See you all next week for IWSG and an April birthstone post

  3. I love buying new appliances, too bad they cost money. Purple's one of my favorite colors! Having a dinner date with hubs is the bestest! Have a good weekend.

  9. I'm so jealous of your purple toaster, that's my favourite colour. My sister has one too, and a big shiny purple bin to match it. I can't wait until I have a kitchen of my own; everything will be purple.

  10. Good to have an update from you. I'll be sorry to see the Aquamarine story taken down - I think it's my favourite. But maybe the April unicorn will change my mind...

  12. Congrats on submitting your short-stories. I do the same every once in a while, and it can be an arduous process, but it's worthwhile to keep putting your stuff out there. Best of luck:)

  13. A purple toaster is pretty cool, lol! You should celebrate your first piece of toast w/grape jelly. ;) Have fun at the bday party!

  14. The toaster sounds great. I get strangely excited when I have to buy things like that. And a meal with your hubby is definitely a reason to celebrate. Good luck with the submissions :-)

  15. I've been denying myself sugar, mostly successfully, since the start of Lent and am hoping I can keep it up beyond Lent. I think it's just better for me in general.

Oh-- and our coffee maker bit the dust, just in time for tax returns. We bought ourselves a new Keurig. Nice!

  18. Hi Suzanne,

I propose a toaster to your posting. A purple toaster and a kettle to match. How neat. I think my computer is about to blow up. Or maybe it's Google messing around with me.

No mention of chocolate, but I will mention that I hope the weekend turns out fine with your activities. Happy Mother's Day!

    Gary :)

  19. Mark - It can be fun to enter and you never know ...

Leandra - Hehe never thought of that!

Annalisa - Thanks, I know what you mean about the strange excitement factor!

Julie - Well done on your sugar challenge. I think most of us consume too much so cutting down is a good idea.

    Mere - Thank you :)

Rhonda - I have only found it really hard on a couple of occasions, but I didn't give in!

Gary - Sorry about all the computer probs. I have heard a few people talking about these issues. Hope they get it sorted soon.

Thanks to everyone for visiting :)

  21. I have never seen a purple toaster! I'm more of a pink girl, but there's no way my husband would sanction pink. Purple, though....he might not bluster over purple. :)

Hope you had a fantastic weekend!

  22. I love purple! Sounds like you have had a productive week, entering two competitions, and also a relaxing time out with your man too. Hope this week is good to you too!

  23. Julie - Let's spread the purpleness!

Vicki - Welcome, pink has to be my second fav colour!
