Celebrate the small things

Thanks toViklit

Welcome to Friday and time once again to celebrate the small things. Check out this simple weekly blog hop that gives us the chance to reflect on the past week and focus on some of the positives. Click the link above to find out more and sign up.

This week I am celebrating:

* Pancakes - Shrove Tuesday this week and lots of yummy pancakes. Why we don't eat them more often I don't know! My favourite topping is the traditional lemon and sugar. I am now giving up chocolate until Easter.

* A trip out all in the name of research - Last Sunday the family accompanied me on a visit to Tintagel. About 40 miles from where we live. For those of you who don't know Tintagel Castle is reputed to be the birth place of King Arthur. Little remains of the castle but it is a beautiful area and one steeped in history with a good dose of myth and legend thrown in. One of my projects at the moment involves the area and I wanted to soak up the atmosphere of the place to help me. It was very blustery up on the cliffs but well worth the trip. A few pics below for anyone interested.

Have a great weekend everyone.

  7. We had pancakes too on Tuesday. Yummo! Since I am giving up sugar-based foods and simple carbs, it was like my last indulgence. :)

Those pictures are lovely. What a wonderful way to feel your story.

  9. I love Tintagel and go there regularly with my husband as we live pretty close. I haven't been to the castle in years difficult to make it there with my back, but there are lots of beautiful places around there including st nectans glen, where there is a beautiful waterfall that is connected to Merlin :)

  13. What great pics! It must have been very interesting to imagine your characters there hundreds of years ago. The rocks and water make it look a bit forbidding. Kinda scary, actually. :O

  17. How wonderful to go to King Arthur's castle! That is certainly worth celebrating. Thanks for sharing the photos. They are really cool. I loved driving through the English countryside and seeing all the ruins, but we missed this one, somehow.

  18. Oh, that image of the open door would be great for a book cover. It suggests so many things. I love it's history, mood, narrative. What a great place to visit.

Shrove Tuesday - slurp. I'm having lemon and honey on mine. I avoid sugar as much as possible. I don't know why we don't eat more pancakes either. The US eat them for breakfast, although they're not the same as the ones Brits have. Ours are much thinner and I have no idea if they're even made of the same ingredients? I digress :)

    Have a great week, Suzanne!

My human, Gary, has always wanted to visit Tintagel. To think it's so close to where you live is pawesome. If you see Merlin, please say hello. The photos are amazing.

I think Gary is ready for "puncakes."

Hope you had a wonderful weekend during this fine weather.

  23. I've never been to Tintagel. I really should - I try to get the most out of my National Trust membership as possible - but time is always against us. I hope you got what you needed.
