Purpose : To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! If you haven't already signed up why not make it your New Year's resolution to join us.

Positivity and focus are my key words for the start of this new year. Basically this means I want to focus on the important aspect of my writing - getting the words out my head and onto my computer! I have several projects on the go but I am mainly going to work on a sequel to Arrosay, my MG fantasy. Whilst doing this I will be keeping a positive attitude to submitting my completed projects.

I think I was in need of the mental recharge the start of a new year can bring. I'm sure there will be bouts of insecurity ahead but at this moment in time I am feeling more confident that I can make things happen and edge closer to my dreams.

Wishing you all a happy and successful writing year ahead.

  1. In such a competitive business, you have to stay positive because you have to fight to tell people your book is better than everyone else's! Good luck with your sequel!

  6. I know it's just "another day" but there is something so filled with possibility about the New Year-- I completely agree. Go us! I hope you have the focus and maintain that positive energy for all of 2014.

  7. Positivity is the way to go! I've made a decision to look at my own physical situation from a positive perspective, that is, which illness is doing OK today? Focus on that, not the setback in one of the other ones.
As it applies to writing, I've decided not to write about my medical conditions. At first I was doing it supposedly to educate, but a kind friend pointed out that all I was doing really was whining. So I have that goal, and then my word for the year: contentment. Kinda goes with the other, don't you think?

    1. Contentment is an excellent word, without it we are unlikely to succeed. Wishing you health and much contentment, Tina.

  10. Perfect words, Suzanne! I would add to them discipline, structure and repetition for me. I need a new habit and the only way to build a habit is through forecful repetion and discipline. Good luck to you, and me and all of us writers as we start our new year!

  11. Positivity and focus are great keywords for a new year! I'll have to adopt them for 2014 too. :)

Good luck with your sequel and your submission process! Happy New year!!

  12. Remain confident for the year and much will get done indeed

  13. Go Suzanne!
I'd like to write a sequel too. The first blank page must be slightly less scary if you already know who the characters are. Trouble is, I'm a bit too fond of killing my characters off to allow for sequels. I LOVE the power over life and death that goes with writing...
    ...hope that's not just me!

  14. I believe in the power of positive thinking...I love your confidence.

  15. Good luck with your sequel......Sure it will be a success.

I am still working on my book, this virus I've had has slowed things up a bit, most annoying.

  16. That's great that you're starting the New Year with positive thoughts. I think attitude is a big factor on how far many of us go with our projects.

  17. Two key words, Suzanne. I agree and I hope we can both keep those words in mind as we go through 2014. Have a great writing year.

  18. This year new years coincided with a new moon and a super moon, so I am definitely feeling the vibe of newness. Good luck with your MG fantasy. Great genre to be writing in for marketability, for sure. I admire MG writers. I've lost my ability to think in that childlike way, I'm afraid.

  23. Focus is a biggie for me too. Positivity is always my challenge. It's a great combination and important to strive for. I'm going to borrow it from you. Thanks, Suzanne.

  25. That's exactly what I have to do, too. I have to stop getting distracted by things (social media -- you evil temptress!) and freaking WRITE something! Good luck, Suzanne!!

  26. That's great how you're feeling more confidence than normal. I hope that feeling lasts a long, long time!

  27. A Positive spirit accomplishes much and when you couple it with focus you got a winner. Life is constantly in flux and focus helps you pick your task and get it done.

  28. Hi Suzanne,

I know that you will maintain that positive focus. Embracing all this is good for your physical and mental health well being. This is conducive to that upbeat environment you desire. This bodes well for your writing, dear Suzanne.

    Have a very nice weekend.

    Gary :)

  29. Isn't it great to have a new beginning every 12 months? It gets us going and motivated (which would be hard to do with this dreary weather). Good luck in keeping to your goals!
