Friday is time to Celebrate the small things . Hosted by Viklit at Scribblings of an Aspiring Author.
How it all works!
Each Friday, post in your blog something you wish to celebrate achieving / doing that week.
It can be writing related: I finished a tricky chapter! I finished my outline!
It can be reading related: I read two books!
It can be life related: I tidied my sock drawer! My child finally ate something green! I cleaned the shed!

I 'm afraid I haven't had much to celebrate over the last few weeks so have been absent from this hop for a while. However, as this hop is about small steps, I decided to rejoin with a few positives.
During the last week I have taken several positive steps with my writing.
- I wrote 2 blog posts and visited a good number of blogs.
- I have completed a first draft of a short story for an upcoming competition
- I revisited three stories I had previously drafted and edited them ready for submission.
- Finally, I sent one of these stories off to a competition.
"There is no magic cure, no making it all go away forever. There are only small steps upward; an easier day, an unexpected laugh, a mirror that doesn't matter anymore."
Enjoy your weekend x
That is a great idea - I might just have to join in. We should always celbrate the positives, however small.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you joining in, Kate :)
DeleteDefinitely a great idea to focus on the small things, particularly when times seem sort of dark!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Trisha. Yes focusing on the positives, however small, is the way to move forward :)
DeleteYes - keep going! Those little steps will all add up to great big strides in the end.
ReplyDelete(Your posts are always so inspiring - even when you're not finding them easy to write xx)
Awww thank you so much, Helen. That is a lovely thing to say. My online friends are such a support :)
DeleteWhat a lovely post. I think my celebration is that I have got up to 51k words on my current WIP and I've shifted from a position of "I'm not sure if this is any good" to "This is taking shape and I can see it's probably going to work". That Laurie Halse Anderson quote is nice. I've not heard of her. Have a peaceful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Louise. Reaching 51k is a great reason to celebrate especially when you feel it is going so well :)
DeleteStep by step... makes it more manageable.
ReplyDeleteA lovely reminder... thank you for sharing.
Enjoy your weekend!
Small steps are more manageable thanks, Michelle.
DeleteYou got a lot of needed work done this week. Great job!

ReplyDeleteIndeed, Julia. Hope the quote offers your friend some comfort. I think it will be one I will remember x
DeleteWhat a moving and aspirational quote. I know you are having a tough time right now and would fully expect that you feel the need to step out of this bloghop. I hoped that celebrating small, in some small way, helped. Your celebrations are all awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt did help, Vik thank you :)
DeleteYou've got some really neat things to celebrate listed. And the quote you found is wonderful. Good luck with your competition. Wishing you only good things:)

ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelley. I'll let you know if I have any good news submissions wise!
DeleteThose don't sound like small steps at all. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteThose are good accomplishments! I know for me, it's hard to stay up and do submissions to story competitions. I wish you all the luck.
DeleteThanks, Nancy and Ilima your kind words are appreciated :)
DeleteYour positives are all great - better yet is your ability to see them. Sorry you've not felt as though you've had anything to celebrate the last few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI think it is important to always try and see the positives even when you seem to be drowning in the opposite. Thanks for dropping in, Patsy :)

ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI suppose my latest posting was in theme with celebrate the small things. For actually, small things, in workable goals, can become the big things.
And your ongoing writing endeavours, done in a realistic way, shall continue along the positive pathway. Be well and fulfilling writing to you, my friend.
Gary :)
Glad to hear you're moving forward, best of luck with your competition.
ReplyDeleteLexa - It was half term week so I tried to get as much done as I could while I had some free time!
DeleteGary - Small goals are the key to moving forward. It is indeed important to celebrate the small positives as collectively they add up to a whole lot.
Best wishes to you too :)
