July Birthstone - Ruby

Well it's the 1st of July so time to update this month's birthstone. Traditionally the birthstone of July is the beautiful ruby. I have updated the side bar with information about this stone and the characteristics associated with it. I'll post an extract from this month's Birthstone Unicorns story in a few days.

The verse from the traditional poem goes as follows;

"The gleaming ruby should adorn,
All those who in July are born,
For thus they'll be exempt and free,
From lover's doubts and anxiety."
The birthstone flower is Larkspur

Happy Birthday if you are celebrating a birthday this month

  4. Kinda makes me wish I was born in July. Then again, aquamarine isn't a terrible stone either :)

  6. It's my first time with the IWSG and I had to stop by to say hello. My birthstone in Diamond I believe - April/Aries. Lucky I suppose. I prefer rubies though - my favourite colour is red. :)

    1. Yes April's birthstone is a Diamond. Expensive gem but not as interesting in colour as some of the others. I'm a garnet myself which is also red but I do love amethysts!

  7. I wish rubies were my birthstone! I was always bummed when I was younger that I got something as generic as the diamond ;)
